All of the group was concerned about the issue of lack of respect among students. They see it as pervading the academic and social climate of the school.
A teacher in this situation might feel.. This portion of the process was not completed. Instead of hypotheses, the group listed actions to take. encourage constructive criticism; model respect consistently; discourage "I hate." Statements; be fair and consistent; have a sense of humor but be firm and consistent; don't take their behavior personally; make sure all rules are clearly understood.

The process was revised this time. Everyone wanted to discuss lack of respect among students. A more general discussion ensued. Also, hypotheses were not given. The group was very anxious to move to solutions and consistent actions among faculty. Note: The month the group decided to focus on the issue of respect.
