CURRICULUM AND TEACHING

Description:
Teacher has a small group of non-reading second graders. One child recently was behaving very apathetically, sprawling on the floor, claiming to be very tired and not feeling well, that this is a bad day. This is the first time the teacher has worked with this group of children so, not knowing them very well, sent the little girl to the nurse's office. She was sent back but still didn't participate. The teacher didn't press the issue because this was the first day and she didn't know the kids. At the end of the period she gave each kid three stickers for their participation and work but gave the little girl only one sticker for just being there.
