PARENT/TEACHER ISSUE

Description:
Mom is a clinical psychologist. Her son, a 3rd grader, suffers from anxiety and performs 1-2 levels below 3rd grade peers. She and I are in contact about every 3 weeks. The class was introduced to multiplication and I told them they needed to memorize facts and they would not be able to use their fingers. Mom called the MN Department of Education about the tests and she was told the kids could use their fingers and I shouldn't expect her son to memorize as it causes a great deal of anxiety.
