CURRICULUM AND TEACHING
I wanted to show the movie "Dead Poets Society" to my sociology classes last quarter. I thought it worked great with the material we were covering on adolescents. The movie is rated PG. My cooperating teacher was fine with it, but wanted me to get clearance from the principal. After a full day of thinking about it he had to say "no." His reasoning behind it was due to the fact that the movie touches on the subject of "suicide." The principal said his biggest worry about students committing suicide is between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Well, third quarter is here, and the chapter is coming up again. Do I press the issue and go through the process again?
