Situation/Case Study:

This teacher deals with special education children. One of the things she does is help children with managing their time and assignments. She does this with homework charts for her students. One of the children lives with his grandparents and his returning the signed homework chart and the homework is very inconsistent. The grandparents often do not sign the form even when he has things done. She keeps "plugging away" realizing the child is not in control of the situation. Recently she was very busy and had a major distraction at the end of the day and so did not send home the chart. The next day she received a note from the grandparent complaining that the note did not come home. The teacher feels very frustrated that she is being held to a level of accountability that the grandparents aren't.
