STUDENT/TEACHER/FAMILY ISSUE

Description:
Teacher paired ESL and English speaking students for lab work. A parent called demanding that his daughter be removed from the class because he didn't want her working with "Mexicans." Teacher said teacher would change the student's lab partner but could not remove her from class. The student then began to cause divisiveness between English speaking and ESL students. ESL students became afraid and waiting for teacher outside of class each day. Teacher did not address the problem because she did not want to "put down" a child's parent. She did not take the problem to her dean because she had been told a previous time that "discipline" was her responsibility, not the dean's. Things went from bad to worse.
