SYSTEMIC POLICY ISSUE

Description:
As an early childhood special education team member, I am responsible for assessing 3-5 year olds who have been referred to ECSE for speech and language concerns. Recently, one of the children I assessed qualified for services; however, I had to explain to the parent that although I assessed her child our school district wouldn't be providing the services because of her location and an inter-district agreement that another district would service her area. This was upsetting to the parent who said she was paying taxes for our district.
