ASL & INT Technology
In preparation for making the leap from analog to digital file format. IT staff filmed an individual signing and tested the video files & formats on our streaming media server, an iPod and an iPAQ versus VHS on a TV monitor.

Staff and faculty met to discuss their practices and what students need in the ASL and INT classroom.

This spring, we setup a computer on campus where students can film themselves, save their files as QuickTime movies, and post them in the Digital Drop Box in Blackboard. Students were also encouraged to use their own computers and cameras if they preferred.
We are in the process of researching more robust technology for ASL/INT which include:
  • Ability to do side-by-side Video Comparative Recording
  • Ability to do a Visual Interpretation of an MP3 audio file
  • Ability to do a Audio Interpretation of a video file
  • Ability to do a Visual Interpretation and/or Audio Interpretation of a simple text file
  • Real Time Visual and/or Audio Communication Between the Instructor and the Students
  • Provides the ability for Students to Work in “Video” Pairs
  • The ability to Save (Video and/or Audio) Files for Easy Review & Assessment allows for instructor to easily create a visual lesson plan
