The Time Between Class Meetings
If you put a course session online, think not only about creating materials equivalent to the time you normally spend face-to-face but also the time between classes. If there are three or four weeks between face-to-face meetings, students may feel disconnected from the class.

Considering having students post a journal entry and/or participate in an online discussion each week (especially if there are several weeks between classes). Encourage students to post responses to other students during this time. And, plan to check in yourself every day (or two).

Task students with posting responses that will contribute to their classmates learning. It changes the whole dynamic of the conversation!
