Program: Sonography Program Program Code: (SON)
Program Faculty:
Mabbs,* Taylor (*program director)

Program Description:
Sonography is the science of obtaining and analyzing diagnostic medical images through the use of high frequency sound. These images provide information that aids in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury.

The sonography program provides the student with clinical, classroom and laboratory experience. Students will receive comprehensive training and experience performing scanning procedures in abdominal, obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. They also will receive training and experience in vascular ultrasound procedures.

Upon completion of the program (73 credits, two years), graduates are awarded an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree and are eligible to take the national registry exam in Ultrasound Physics, Abdominal Ultrasound, and Obstetrical and Gynecological Ultrasound.

Math competency that is necessary for sonography course work and practice is measured through competency testing or enrollment in FNDN065. There is a challenge option for this math course.
