Program: Business Administration Program Code: (BADM)
Program Faculty:
Dahlberg, DiNovis, Emerson, Hance, Hardesty, Henderson, Roger, Schleeter, Tousley, Villafana* (*department chair)

Program Description:
The Department of Business Administration provides the student with the opportunity to combine liberal arts education with preparation in one of six professional business fields. These fields are: a major in Accounting; a Day major in Information Systems, a Weekend College major in Management Information Systems (MIS), a major in Sales with a concentration in Business to Business Sales or a concentration in Financial Services Sales; and a major in Business Administration with concentrations in marketing/management or small business/entrepreneurship.

On-the-job professional work experience is encouraged through a practicum/internship course, which is an integral part of the business curriculum.

The major in accounting meets the provisions of the Minnesota State Board of Accountancy and other states to sit for the Uniform Examination for Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or the Certified Management Accountant examination (CMA) after graduation, without prior experience. Beginning in 2006, 150 semester credit hours will be required to gain the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure. In Minnesota, the exam may be taken with 130 hours. Other states currently require 150 semester credits to sit for the exam. Students needing additional credit hours may consider the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership program.

All majors except Information Systems are available in Weekend College. All majors can be obtained with either the B.A. or the B.S. degree.

BUSINESS PORTFOLIO
All majors are required to complete a business portfolio. The portfolio is the vehicle that enables both faculty and students to integrate the life skills and knowledge they bring with them and the knowledge, skills and values learned within the courses and field experiences throughout the program. This portfolio will allow students to validate their experiences at the College of St. Catherine.

Documents of various kinds will be collected throughout the program; some will be selected to reflect upon. The portfolio is cumulative in nature. It will be evaluated at two points:

- When a petition to major form is filed (no later than second semester of junior year);
- The final portfolio should be presented no later than mid-October or mid March of the final semester/trimester.

For specific portfolio requirements, please refer to the Professional Portfolio Handbook. The portfolio is highly recommended for business minors.
