Program Description:
Demand for Montessori teachers is rapidly increasing in public and private schools, day-care centers, nursery schools, parochial schools and individual households. To prepare students for a career in this fast-growing field, the Center for Contemporary Montessori Programs offers a professional teacher education program affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS). Students earn college credit and an academic certificate from the College of St. Catherine. They also will complete eligibility requirements for the AMS teaching credential, the nation's most widely recognized and respected Montessori credential.
Students may acquire the Early Childhood Associate Credential either with or without a baccalaureate degree. A bachelor's degree is required for admission to all other Montessori Credential programs. Students who have already earned a baccalaureate degree may complete a master of arts degree with a Montessori focus and may become licensed as a teacher by the state.
