The acceptability of the application is determined in relation to all of the preceding factors.
Special-status Student
In some programs, students may be allowed to take graduate course work as a special-status student without being formally admitted to the graduate program. A special-status student:
- is one who plans to complete only one or two courses for personal or professional development or to evaluate a graduate program prior to applying for admission;
- may take a maximum of six semester credits as a special-status student. At this paint, the student must complete the application process through the Office of Graduate Admission and be admitted to the program as a degree-seeking student in order to continue taking graduate course work; and
- is not eligible for financial assistance.
Special-status positions are filled on a space-available basis and are subject to graduate program director and instructor permission. Contact the graduate admissions office for application information.
