Situation/Case Study:

As we shared our events, we came to the conclusion that the underlying theme connecting these events pertained to complacency. The group then engaged in a comprehensive discussion regarding complacency in a multitude of levels within this educational system.

A sense of complacency can lead to anger, apathy, distrust - adversely affecting teachers and students - less dedication. A sense of complacency can lead to high turnover.

Professional educators thrive with genuine support and recognition. Decisions could be increasingly localized, with instructional leaders identified in each building (a growth mentor). Administrators, who effectively connect with teachers, can help in reducing the sense of complacency.

At the end of this session, the group debriefed, feeling that the process, and the meetings overall, had been both helpful and informative and a source of support for one another.
