Situation/Case Study:

This teacher is an ESL teacher and works with small groups so does not have some of the classroom control issues that the other teachers do. Her dilemma is that in one class she has an energetic bunch of kids who love to talk all the time and at the same time. She feels the frustration of the mixed messages of wanting and encouraging the children to talk as much as possible to develop their language and maintaining some order. She also feels frustrated in that the children are at so many levels she would like to work with them one-on-one to tailor her instruction to their needs, but this is difficult when she needs to have them all doing as much communication as possible.
