The teacher was called and told to send a child to the office with her coat and hat. The principal later told her that the child left school with a child protection worker. The next day when the child returned the teacher tried to make the child feel comfortable and be supportive and asked general questions so as not to pry, but to let the child know she cared and was there to help. The child said little and the teacher was aware of rumors about the home situation. She wonders how she can continue to be there for the child when the school is not informed and often unaware of situations like this.
