Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) (EDUC)
STEM MINOR
The STEM minor was created to increase the depth of understanding of STEM content specifically for elementary education majors, but is also open to students in other majors. The minor includes course work in environmental biology, engineering, environmental chemistry and robotics. Courses are team taught by STEM and education professors using methods proven effective in teaching STEM such as hands-on activities, problem-based learning and the use of case studies. The minor will help education majors be better prepared to teach STEM as well as other majors be more marketable in STEM-related businesses. Each course is four credits with a lab, and each meets the Liberal Arts and Sciences core laboratory science requirement.
Courses in the STEM minor:
BIOL 1110 Environmental Biology
CHEM 1000 Chemistry of Life
PHYS 1200 Makin' and Breakin': Engineering in Your World
CHEM 2150 Environmental Science
PHYS 2994: Changemakers: Physics, Engineering and Our Dynamic Earth
