Program Description:
The College of St. Catherine offers an Associate of Arts degree program designed to give students an opportunity to develop academic competencies while exploring various educational and career options. There are several options in the associate of arts degree program.
The first is the Liberal Arts and Sciences option. The primary goal of this option is to prepare students for enrollment in four-year baccalaureate programs. The degree requires 64 semester credits including completion of the liberal arts and sciences core, Associate of Arts program required courses and 22 elective credits. Four semesters and two summer sessions are required to complete the degree. All courses can be applied to the College's four-year baccalaureate programs unless otherwise stated (students wishing to enroll in other four-year institutions should consult with their advisors about the transferability of the courses).
The second is the pre-healthcare major option. The primary goal of this option is to prepare students for enrollment in four-year baccalaureate programs as healthcare majors. The degree requires 64 semester credits including completion of the liberal arts and sciences core and intensive science coursework in anatomy and physiology and microbiology. Four semesters and three summer sessions are required to complete the degree. All courses can be applied to the College's four-year baccalaureate programs unless otherwise stated (students wishing to enroll in other four-year institutions should consult with their advisors about the transferability of the courses).
The third option is the education paraprofessional option. The primary goal of this option is to prepare students to work as education paraprofessionals and to ladder into an education major. The degree requires 60 semester credits including completion of the liberal arts and sciences core and course work in education, education ethics, immigrants and refugee issues, and psychology. Four semesters and one summer session are required to complete the degree. All courses can be applied to the College's four-year baccalaureate programs unless otherwise stated (students wishing to enroll in other four-year institutions should consult with their advisors about the transferability of the courses).
