Butler Sports and Fitness Center
The Aimee and Patrick Butler Center for Sports and Fitness exists to enhance college life for all St. Catherine's students, faculty and staff by providing programs and facilities that support their health and fitness goals. Use of the facility supports the College's commitment to academic and personal excellence through a balance of physical education courses, intercollegiate athletics, recreational sports, and personal health and fitness programming.
RECREATIONAL SPORTS
The recreational sports program provides an excellent opportunity for physical activity, friendly competition and social interaction. Leagues include sport activities such as basketball, soccer and volleyball. Students who are interested in starting new activities are encouraged to call the recreational sports office. The program also provides fitness equipment orientations, day events to learn new sport activities and equipment check-out opportunities. For those who thrive on individual fitness, classes are offered in aerobics and water aerobics. In addition, the Stay Fit program provides fitness goals and rewards students who earn points for aerobic workouts. Recreational sports activities are open to St. Catherine students, faculty , staff and alumnae.
INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS
The intercollegiate sports program is designed for the student who wishes to develop her athletic potential. The College sponsors intercollegiate teams in basketball, volleyball, track and field, cross country, swimming and diving, tennis, soccer, ice hockey and softball. The seasons offer competition with other colleges in Minnesota and neighboring states. The teams compete within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III and are members of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). Any student who wishes to compete in this program must be a full-time student in good academic standing making normal progress toward a baccalaureate degree.
