Academic course requirements for the piano pedagogy certificate are as follows:
MUS 1130 Music Theory I
MUS 1140 Music Theory II
MUSL 1310 Piano Elective 50-minute lessons* or MUSP 2310 Piano Performance Level Lessons*
MUS 3000 Piano Pedagogy I: Elementary Level
MUS 3010 Piano Pedagogy II: Intermediate Level
MUS 3050 Piano Pedagogy III: Performance Practices
MUS 3120 History and Literature of Music II or MUS 1150 The Art of Listening
MUS 4752 Practicum (2 credits)
*Four semesters of piano lessons, MUSL 1310 or MUSP 2310, are required. Recital participation and concert attendance are also required during each semester of piano study.
Recent equivalent courses in music theory and music history and literature may be transferred into this certificate program from another college or university, with permission of the program director.
