Distinctions and Awards
In addition to election to honor societies, the University gives recognition to students for scholarly achievement in the following ways:
ANTONIAN SCHOLARS HONORS PROGRAM - BACCALAUREATE DAY PROGRAM
To graduate as an Antonian Scholar, baccalaureate day students must successfully complete the requirements of the program, one of which is an independently researched senior honors project. A student also must maintain a 3.5 overall grade point average. The Antonian Scholars Honors Program offers students of superior ability and motivation an opportunity to study and work with one another in a specially designed program of liberal arts studies. One of the goals of the program is to offer an intellectual challenge to women and to give them opportunities to build stimulating and supportive relationships with peers and faculty. In addition to the academic program, Honors Program students enjoy social and cultural activities in their own student organization.
To deepen the love of learning and to provide the opportunity for independent scholarship, students in the program enroll in honors seminars earning liberal arts credits. In their senior year, students research, complete and present to the public, under the direction of a faculty committee, an independent research project. The title of your senior honors project and completion of the program is noted on your transcript.
Among the privileges of membership are priority registration, access to the Honors Hub private meeting and study area at Coeur de Catherine, honors sections of the Reflective Woman and Global Search for Justice courses as well as other honors seminar courses. Upon completion of the program, Antonian Scholars are recognized at commencement and given a special diploma.
First-year students and sophomores in the baccalaureate day program who have achieved a 3.5 cumulative grade point average are eligible to apply for membership in the program. Applicants submit an application form, personal essay and two faculty recommendations to be considered for admission to the program. A committee of faculty members charged with oversight of the Antonian Scholars Honors Program determines membership in the program. For further information, contact the Honors Program director.
DEAN'S LIST - BACCALAUREATE PROGRAMS
The Dean's List gives recognition to those day students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.667 or above in a semester while taking at least three full courses (12 credits) for letter (A-F) grades.
The Dean's List gives recognition to Weekend College students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.667 or above in a term while taking at least two full courses (eight credits) for letter (A-F) grades.
The Dean's List is assembled after the deadline for submission of final term grades. Students with incomplete grades may not be considered for the Dean's List during the term in which the incomplete is given.
Contact the Office of Academic Affairs with questions about the Dean's List.
