Academic Advising

Leave of Absence or Withdrawal

LEAVE OF ABSENCE OR WITHDRAWAL

If you are not enrolled for the next term and you are not planning to attend CSC
OR
If you are enrolled already and wish to drop all your classes

Contact the Office of Academic Advising, an advisor will process a leave of absence or withdrawal for you. This is usually completed in person, but may be done over the phone in extenuating circumstances.

A leave of absence is appropriate if you plan to return after one or two semesters, students on leave will continue to receive the services detailed below.

A withdrawal is appropriate if you plan to transfer to another institution or have no plans to return to St. Catherine University.

If you wish to withdraw from one or more classes, but will still be enrolled: you may drop courses online prior to the deadline for online registration OR submit a form to the Registrar’s office after the online registration period, but before the last day to withdraw; instructor permission is not required.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

If you withdraw from all classes prior to the first day of class or during online registration within the drop/add period at the beginning of the semester, your transcript will not show any enrollment for the semester.

If you withdraw from classes after the online registration period, but before the last day to withdraw, your courses will be listed on your transcript with a notation of “W”.

Above deadlines are maintained on the Registrar’s website under the appropriate academic calendar.

No refunds of tuition are given unless a student has officially withdrawn during a refund period. Refunds are calculated on a prorated basis according to published schedules.

Grading and refund policies are strictly enforced, to preserve academic integrity and reflect course availability. Appeals due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the student's control will be considered if filed on a timely basis. Grade appeals are considered by the Office of Academic Affairs, refund appeals are considered by Student Accounts. The Office of Academic Advising will advise students regarding the appropriateness of an appeal.

FINANCIAL AID

Students receiving financial aid should consult with financial aid to determine the impact of a leave or withdrawal on their current and future aid awards.

RETURNING

If you are a student in good standing who has withdrawn from the University, you may be readmitted by contacting the Office of Admission. Readmission is required only if you have been away from St. Catherine’s for more than one academic year. An application fee is not charged.
