Lizette has been the Director of Academic Advising at St. Kate’s since September of 2005. She feels that working with students keeps her young, focused, accountable and keeps her in touch with current issues. As the director, she is in a wonderful position to advocate for students and help them navigate different levels of the college.

Lizette’s undergraduate degree is in Women’s Studies from the University of Minnesota and she holds a Master's in Family Therapy from Mercer University in Macon, GA.

When she is not helping students or attending meetings, she can be found reading mystery novels.



Cindy Olson, Academic Advisor

Cindy has worked at St. Kate’s for seven years.. She loves hearing students’ stories and seeing their success as they grow in their education.

Her undergraduate degree from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, is in Exercise Science-Biology. She earned her Master’s in Organizational Leadership here at St. Kate’s.

Cindy was a member of the Thespian Society and was once on a water ski team.



Nina Exley, Academic Advisor: Nursing Specialist

Nina started at St. Kate’s in late 2007. She loves working here and finds the small, liberal arts environment is ideal for fostering meaningful relationships with students. She enjoys helping both day and weekend students reach their educational goals. She also enjoys working with wonderful people who support and challenge her professionally.

Nina received both her undergraduate degree in Secondary Education and her Master's in Education with a focus on Leadership in Student Affairs from St. Thomas.

In 2006, she traveled to universities in Luxembourg, France and Germany to study how they provide services to students and has collaborated with our European counterparts on how to serve international students.



Heather Wallace, Part-time Academic Advisor

Heather has been employed at St. Kate’s since January of 2006. She enjoys meeting and talking with students, hearing about their goals, and helping with challenges. She likes the seasons of a college setting, and the new beginnings each semester.

Her education includes an undergraduate degree in Business and a Master’s in College Student Personnel Administration both from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.

Outside of St. Kate’s, she keeps busy with school-age twins, a dog and a cat. She sometimes commutes the 10 miles to St. Kate’s by bicycle and lived in Mexico from 2001-2004.




Miranda Heinonen, Graduate Intern

Miranda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, Duluth and is working on her Master in Leadership in Student Affairs at the University of St. Thomas.

She loves being the “go to” person when students have concerns and enjoys pointing students in the right direction and watching them grow and succeed.

She completed her bachelor’s degree in 3½ years and plans to complete her master's degree in 1½ years!
