Academic Advising
Working with your Advisor
First Year Advising Program
Incoming First Year students at the College of St. Catherine are advised by their
"The Reflective Woman" instructor. This nationally recognized advising program encourages new students to form relationships with their advisors, who assist the students in both transition to college and in defining their academic plans. This model also encourages collegial relations within the TRW class, beginning at Orientation and continuing formally through the first year.
Pre-Nursing Advising
Students who have indicated an interest in Nursing are advised by Nina Exley the pre-Nursing advisor, beginning in their second year. Nina helps students to understand the requirements for admission to Nursing and works with students until they are admitted to the Nursing Program.
Major/Faculty Advising
Students are assigned to a faculty member in their major, begining in their second year. This faculty advisor will assist the student as they begin to take more classes within major coursework and help the student to identify opportunities for enrichment related to the students major or career interests.
Deciding Students
Students who are in the process of deciding upon a major are advised by the professional advisors in the academic advising office.
