CONSIDER RURAL WISCONSIN -- Up to $25,000 Education Loan Assistance for Health Professionals Willing to Work There!
Wisconsin Office of Rural Health is offering a Health Professional Loan Assistance Program (HPLAP), which provides up to $25,000 in education loan assistance to health professionals, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants and certified midwives, who agree to practice in a shortage area in Wisconsin for three years. The application deadline is November, and funds are disbursed by the following March. Qualified applicants may apply throughout the year. Ann Sweet Tobey AS '04, Nursing, saved a teen's life in the Mall of America. On May 2, 2007, Sweet Tobey acted quickly when she and her companion Ramona Rivera came upon a fourteen-year-old girl bleeding from razor wounds to her abdomen. They used towels, apron, and a belt to staunch the bleeding enough to stablize her until paramedics could arrive.
