Kelly Wavrin MLIS '06 (l) is cataloging varied natural resources and environmental sciences materials with Emily Fidelman (graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) in Anchorage for the Alaska Resources Library and Information Services(ARLIS).


MLIS Graduate Takes on the Daunting and Chilly Task of Cataloging Complex Materials in Anchorage, Alaska

Kelly Wavrin '06 was recently highlighted with colleague Emily Fidelman for their work in cataloging gray literature in the Alaskan Library Association Newsletter (Newspoke, December 2007) in an article written by their supervisor, Ed Kazzimir of Alaska Resources Library and Information Services.

Mary Jane Garry Hellyar '75 (chemistry, mathematics) has been elected to the Board of Directors of Chesapeake Corporation, Richmond, VA. She is an executive vice president of Eastman Kodak Company and president of Kodak's Film Products Group. In addition to her bachelor's degree in chemistry and mathematics from St. Kate's, she has master's and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA degree in the management of technology from the Sloan School at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Lisa Kurth Zaspel Mpls '90, SP '93 (nursing, social work) has joined Fraser as director of residential services. Frase is a Twin-Cities based nonprofit that serves children and adults with special needs. A licensed social worker, Kurth Zaspel has 14 years of experience in the social service field and most recently served as executive director for Cooperating Community Programs in St. Paul, where she oversaw the Residential, Consumer Directed, and Case Management branches of the organization.

Denise M. Miller '89 (occupational therapy, pyschology) was awarded a California State Senate District 21 Women in Business Award by Senator Jack Scott and Assembly Members Paul Krekorian and Anthony Portantino on September 28, 2007, in Burbank. Miller was among 27 other prestigious women who have made significant contributions to the business community. The women exemplify the broad range of accomplishments women have achieved in their communities -- corporate leaders and small business owners; scientists and artists; executives and visionaries. Miller was honored both for her work a outpatient Coordinator of Occupational Therapy at Glendale Adventist Therapy and Wellness Center as well as her community activism as President of the Eagle Rock (district in LA) Chamber of Commerce.
Kate (Catherine T.) Kelly '83 (economics and humanity/culture study) has been named president and chief executive officer of Minnesota Bank & Trust. The community bank is being formed by Dubuque, Iowa-based Heartland Financial USA, Inc. to enter the Twin Cities market. A native of St. Cloud, Minn., Kelly is a 1983 graduate of the College of St. Catherine and earned her MBA at Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Kelly will be responsible for the bank’s development and expansion efforts.

Mary Jane Garry Hellyar '75 (chemistry and mathematics) has been elected by the Eastman Kodak Company as executive vice president of its board. Hellyar is president of Kodak’s Film Products Group and president of Entertainment Imaging. She joined the company in 1982 as a research scientist in the Kodak Research Laboratories. Hellyar received a BA in chemistry and mathematics from the College of St. Catherine, an MS and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an MBA from the Sloan School at MIT.

Ann Noble Bateson '68 (history) has become the new director (as of July 1, 2007) of the Schoenecker Law Library, as well as associate dean and professor of law, at the University of St. Thomas School of Law. Previously, Noble Bateson was the director of the law library at William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul. She earned her law degree from the University of Minnesota in 1977 and has had leadership and service roles with American Bar Association, the Association of American Law Schools, and the Minnesota Association of Law Libraries.

Angeline Hubert '66 has been named the assistant director of the Catholic Biblical School (CBS) at the University of Dallas (TX) School of Ministry. In addition to her new administrative responsibilities, Hubert will also continue to teach in the CBS. Hubert holds bachelor’s degrees in history and in library science from the College of St. Catherine and earned her master’s degree in theology from St. John’s University in Collegeville.

Amy Sundeen Greenfield MPT '02 has joined the newly opened Spooner (WI) Physical Therapy & Rehab Clinic, as clinic director. Greenfield, a 1995 Spooner High School graduate, holds a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and a master’s degree in physical therapy from College of St. Catherine.

Aimee Patricia Egan '97 joins the National Arbitration Forum (FORUM) as the new Director of Marketing on April 16, 2007. Egan comes from Thomson West where she worked for seven years, most recently as Director of Marketing of the Small Law Firm Segment and Managed Technology Services groups. Egan earned a bachelor's degree in English/Communications with a French minor from the College of St. Catherine and attended the University of Minnesota Law School from 1997 to 2000.

“We are very excited about these great additions to the FORUM’s professional staff,” said Chief Operating Officer, Michael Kelly. The National Arbitration Forum (FORUM) is one of the world's largest providers of alternative dispute resolution services. The company provides arbitration, mediation, and other alternatives to lawsuits that save disputing parties time and money. They are headquartered in Minneapolis.
