Wildcat basketball announces ’07 recruiting class
June 1, 2007 – The College of St. Catherine basketball team is pleased to announce that seven student-athletes have committed to enroll in the fall of 2007. Wildcat head coach Gary Rufsvold is pleased with the talent that is going to become part of a program that reached the MIAC playoffs last season.
“I am excited about the additions that will become a big part of our program. We have a good group coming back and with the addition of our talented first-year players the future looks bright for Wildcat basketball,” stated Rufsvold. “We are bringing in some players with a lot of speed which will be a great addition for up-tempo style that we like to play,” added Rufsvold.
2007 Recruiting Class
Marie Anderson (Ashland Wis./Washburn HS) – The 5’5” point guard comes to the Wildcats after spending two years at Hibbing Junior College. In her sophomore season Anderson averaged 16.8 ppg, 6.2 apg and 3.8 steals. Anderson also led her team with 8.3 rebounds per game and was named to the All-State Community College team. She will be an exercise science major at St. Kate’s.
Coach Rufsvold comments… “Marie’s tremendous quickness will be a huge asset for her in our style of basketball”

Jessica Arechigo (Fargo, ND/Fargo North HS) – The 5’ 8” guard had an impressive career for the Spartans and averaged 15 ppg in her senior season. Arechigo shot 46% from behind the three-point line and will be participating in the Lions All-Star game this summer and plans on majoring in physical therapy.
Coach Rufsvold comments… “Jessica is an excellent shooter and plays the game with a lot of energy and enthusiasm”

Anna Bruesewitz (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield HS) – The 6’ 1” post player will bring great athleticism to the inside for the Wildcats. Bruesewitz was named team captain and was also an All-State Academic selection her senior year. Bruesewitz will also participate in track and field for the Wildcats.
Coach Rufsvold comments… “Anna has great athletic ability and we look for her to develop as a force inside”
Brittany Marquardt (Fairfax, Minn./GFW HS) – The 5’5” guard was a starter for the Thunderbirds and was also named to the All-Conference Academic team as a senior. Marquardt is going to pursue a degree in nursing.
Coach Rufsvold comments… “Brittany brings a great attitude and work ethic to our program”

Liza Milless (Mothy, Minn./Staples – Mothy HS) – The 5’8” guard/forward will enter St. Kate’s following two seasons at NDSCS. While at NDSCS was part of a Regional Championship team and averaged seven points and three assists in her sophomore season.
Coach Rufsvold comments… “Liza is going to add some great experience and leadership to the guard position and will be looked at to contribute in 07-08”
Molly Peterson (Valley City ND/Valley City HS) – The 5’11” post player will be in her first year with the Wildcats following two season at North Dakota State College of Science. Peterson earned a started spot in her first season at NDSCS and helped her team finish with a 21-10 record and a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament. Peterson’s sophomore season was limited to three games following an injury. Molly plans on majoring in exercise science at St. Kate's.
Coach Rufsvold comments… “Molly has size to be effective inside but can also move her game outside and play on the perimeter”
Mary-Michael Vance (West Fargo, ND/West Fargo HS) – The 5’5” point guard averged 15.5 ppg in her senior year for the Packers. Vance shot 38% from beyond the arc and was named to the All-EDC Team. In addition, she was named second team All-State and will participate in the Lions All-Star game. Vance will be an elementary education major at St. Kate’s
Coach Rufsvold comments… “Mary-Michael will bring excellent ball-handling and passing skills to our program”
