Wildcat soccer and volleyball open up seasons this weekend
August 29, 2007 – The College of St. Catherine soccer and volleyball team will each be kicking off their 2007 seasons this weekend.
The Wildcat volleyball team will be making the trip to Oneonta, NY to participate in the Oneonta Invitational. While in New York the Wildcats will be playing two matches on Friday and two more on Saturday. Friday’s matches will be against Scranton and SUNY Postdam.
“This weekend’s games will be a great test for us as we have several first year players who we are looking at to make big contributions,” stated Wildcat head coach Nicole Hess. “It’s important to start the season on a positive note and I think we have put in the work to make that happen,” added Hess.
The Wildcat soccer team will make the trip to Duluth to participate in the St. Scholastica Advantage Emblem Cup. On Friday the Wildcats will face St. Scholastica and Saturday’s game will be against Northland College, both games begin at 1:00pm.
“We worked hard the past couple weeks and I am excited about starting the season,” stated Wildcat head coach Steve Bellis. “We have some talented players back and an exciting group of first year players who will make a big impact on our team.” Added Bellis.
