Wildcat softball wins opening game at Sun West tourney
March 17, 2007 – The College of St. Catherine softball team won the first of 10 games in Orange, California at the Sun West Tournament. The Wildcats defeated Elmhurst College 6-1 to kick off tournament play.

The Wildcats got a five hit, one run, pitching gem from Jess Lewandowski (Sr., Vadnais Heights, Minn.) to get the 6-1 win.

The Wildcats got all the runs they would need in the first two innings of the game. The Wildcat got an unearned run in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead. In the second, the Wildcats got two more runs including one on a steal of home by Kayla Webster (Fy., Billings, Mont.).

The Wildcats got one more run in the third and two more in the fourth on a double by Jessi McGehee (So., Oakdale, Minn.) to round out the scoring.

The Wildcats record currently sits at 4-3 and they will be back in action tomorrow against Wesleyan University.
