Wildcat softball swept by Gusties
April 21, 2007 – The College of St. Catherine softball team was swept by Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday afternoon. With the pair of wins, the Gusties MIAC record now sits at 14-0.

The Gusties showed their power from the outset of game one, scoring two run on two hits in the first and then added three more in the second, including one on the first of three home runs in game one.

The Gusties scored at least one run in each of the seven innings on their way to a 10-2 win over the Wildcats in game one.

Game two was a replay of game one, with the Gusties jumping out to a quick lead once again. This time around they touched up Wildcat pitcher Ashley Decker (Sr., Plainview, Minn.) for two runs in the second and three more in the third.

The Wildcats could not solve Gustie starting pitcher Joyce Dewitz for the first six innings of game two. Dewitz scattered six hits and didn’t give up a run her six innings of work.

The Wildcats did get on the board in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two runs on two hits for the final score of 7-2.

The Wildcats will be back in action on Monday when they host Carleton College.
