Wildcat softball splits with Macalester
April 14, 2007 – The College of St. Catherine softball team split a pair of games against Macalester College on Saturday afternoon. Today’s games were the first action for the Wildcats since Monday due to the weather causing the postponement of pair of double headers.

Game one was a pitchers dual for the first three innings, with neither team posing a threat to score. That changed in the bottom of the fourth when the Wildcats took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Jess Lewandowski (Sr., Vadnais Heights, Minn.)

It was 1-0 until the bottom of the six when the Wildcats exploded for six runs on six hits and one error. Lewandowski shut down the Scots in the seventh to get the complete game shutout win.

Game two saw the Scots jump out to a quick 3-0 lead after one inning. The Wildcats got one back in the bottom of the second on an RBI double by Morgan Kane (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.). The Scots battled right back with three more in their half of the third to make it 6-1. The Scots got two more in the fourth for an 8-1 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh the Wildcats finally put a small dent in Ali Nystrom, scoring two runs for the final score of 8-3.

The Wildcats out-hit the Scots 18-11 on the day and the Wildcats left 10 people on base and committed six errors in the double header.

The Wildcats will be back in action Tuesday when they host Augsburg College.
