Wildcat softball swept by St. Thomas
April 28, 2007 – The College of St. Catherine softball team lost a pair of games to nationally ranked #1 University of St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon. The losses come on the heels of a win and a tie for the Wildcats last night against Hamline University.

The Tommies showed why the are the #1 ranked team in the country, jumping all over the Wildcats, scoring five runs in both the first and second innings. The Wildcats couldn’t produce a rally until the bottom of the fourth when Jess Lewandowski (Sr., Vadnais Heights, Minn.) hit a two run home run for the final score of 10-2. With the home run, Lewandowski becomes the all-time single season leader in Wildcat history with nine.

Game two was a lot like the first with the Tommies putting lots of runs on the board early. They scored five in the second, four in the third and added one more in the fifth on their way to a 10-0 win and a two game sweep.

The Wildcats will be back in action on Monday when they play Bethel University.
