Wildcat track and field competes at Macalester
April 28, 2007 – The College of St. Catherine track and field team made the short trip over to Macalester College to participate in the Macalester Invitational.

Individually, the Wildcats were lead by Sarah Meissner (So., Stillwater, Minn.) who finished first in the 400 meters with time of 59:29.

The Wildcat throwers had a very good day individually, setting several person records. Sami Larson (Fy., Gaylord, Minn.) had a five-meter personal record in the hammer throw and also set a new personal record in the javelin on her way to fifth place. Joleen Sterner (Fy., Rosemount, Minn.) had a personal record in the discuss and Celeste Ventura (Fy., La Puente, Calif.) set a personal record in the hammer throw.

Other athletes who set personal records include, Greta Sieve (Fy., New Ulm, Minn.) set a personal record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:27.76 and Marcy Burg (Fy., Hokah, Minn.) set an eight second personal record in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:08.37.

“As a team we performed well today, those who didn’t set pr’s competed very well in the warm weather,” stated Wildcat head coach Mike Henderson. “We are in a good position as we head toward the end of the season,” added Henderson.

The Wildcats will be back in action on Wednesday at the Tommie Twilight. Thursday and Friday Sarah Meissner will be competing in the MIAC heptathlon hosted by Carleton College.
