My name is Laurie Svatek and I’m the Director of Catholic Camus Ministers here at St. Kate’s. I come to St. Paul from Green Bay, WI where I was the Campus Minister at the University of WI in Green Bay. I have a personal passion for social justice and find myself really impressed by the hospitality and energy that surrounds the folks here at St. Kate’s. As I begin my second year here at St. Kate’, I am looking forward to becoming more and more a part of this amazing community.
When I’m not on campus I also love to travel and look for fun in lots of “out of the way” places (ask to see some of my pictures of Peru). Since I have 10 nieces and nephews, I find myself keeping connected to them in much more creative ways than when I lived nearby. I have a fun spirit thanks to them and the energy they bring to me. Keeping connected with family and friends, traveling, and still working at becoming a ‘Katie’ keep me pretty busy but I love every minute of it.

Sr. Cathy has been a part of the Campus Ministry team for 7 years now. Her responsibilities include meeting with individuals, teaching RCIA classes (Catholic classes), and coordinating retreats and faith sharing groups. She studied Education and Christian Spirituality when she was in school. During her spare time Sr. Cathy enjoys photography, poetry reading and writing. Whether it be winter or spring she loves to be outdoors, camping hiking and biking.

Ned Moore, Social Justice

Ned Moore is a community organizer, committed to working for social, racial and economic justice. For six years, Ned organized low income residents of manufactured mobile home parks to stop abusive treatment from greedy landlords and government agencies intent on demolishing affordable neighborhoods. He is a board member of La Asamblea de Derechos Civiles, a faith based civil rights organization of predominantly Latino church congregations. He is an advisory committee member for the Minnesota Center for Neighborhood Organizing and an active leader in his neighborhood and church, Minnehaha United Church of Christ. Ned lives with his wife Alyssa and their beagle in South Minneapolis.

Linda has been with Campus Ministry for over three years. Her responsibilities in Campus Ministry are to supervise the office work and workers, coordinate wedding services, chapel and meeting reservations and to help maintain a friendly, helpful and prayerful office and chapel. She has a degree in Sociology and Elementary Education, and she grew up in St. Paul. Linda enjoys cooking, reading, and ballroom dancing.
