"Connecting Our Souls to Our Work"
This Minneapolis Campus Spirituality Series included 2 events in the fall. The purpose of the series was to help Minneapolis faculty and staff think and talk about their commitment to institutional identity, mission, Catholic Social Teaching and ultimately, social justice. The framing question for the series was, "What is unique about the way we manage our individual and collective work because of our mission, when compared to other colleges?"
1) October 3: Mary Ann Brenden (CSC/UST Social Work)
Mary Ann discussed the process that she helped facilitate in which the CSC/UST Social Work faculty examined the Social Work Code of Ethics in relation to Catholic Social Teaching. This work led to the development of Social Work and Social Justice: Ten Principles, now considered a framework in that department and beyond for understanding the universaility of these principles across many faith traditions and strengthening the way the faculty educate for justice. Following the October 3 presentation and discussion, Mary Ann met individually with several departments on the MPLS campus to discuss how they might undertake a similar process.
2) December 12: Sr. Joan Mitchell, CSJ, PhD., member of the Leadership Team of the Sisters of St. Joseph
Sr. Joan led a discussion based on the book, Work and the Life of the Spirit, which each person who attended the series received. This session provided time for participants to reflect, first individually and then in small groups, on ways that they connect with soul/spirituality in their interaction with students and through creativity.

Open House
We opened our office space, CDC 210, for the College to check out the new arrangement and join us in thanking Purchasing, Facilities Management, and Telecommunications for all of their hard work on our space reconfigurations. Many people from the Centers and Core with office space in 210 were there for cookies, cider and a chat. People could also find out more about Integrated Learning and catch up on Centers of Excellence and Core Curriculum events.
