DPT 7100
Complex Medical and Trauma Care
Credits: 5 cr.
Course Description:
This course will advance the student’s knowledge and skill in the medical and physical therapy management of patients with complex trauma and/or medical conditions. Patients with burns, cancer and involvement of multiple systems (musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, neuromuscular and/or integumentary) will be the focus of the course.
Issues of mental illness and chemical dependency will also be addressed. The students’ clinical decision-making skills in complex case scenarios will be assessed through group presentations, group papers and an individual paper.
Prerequisites:
Second-year DPT courses.
