Social Policy and Program Development


Credits: 3 cr.

Course Description:
This course examines the theories and models of policy process and social planning with emphasis on small-scale policy analysis. Principles of policy development and implementation are examined in cultural, philosophical and sociopolitical contexts with an emphasis on social justice. Specific emphasis is placed on the identification of the components of a social plan, the politics of planning and evaluating planning efforts. The practice of policy is integrated with the professional role of clinical social work.
