The coeducational MAED - Curriculum and Instruction program is based upon a framework that provides for the professional growth of the teacher practitioner. This framework includes a cyclical process of inquiry, reflection, application, evaluation and additional reflection. These five elements are incorporated into the activities and assignments in each course of the program through a combination of collaborative and individual work.
Collegial Learning Teams
Program participants organize themselves into collegial learning teams (a minimum of two and a maximum of six members). We welcome and encourage colleagues to apply together.
Learning teams may meet at schools, in homes or at other mutually designated locations.
Some assignments in the program are designed as Learning Team assignments. Typically these assignments include discussion, observation and/or practical classroom application.
Goals and Objectives
The goal of the MAED - Curriculum and Instruction program is to provide a learning environment for the professional teacher in which collaborative efforts between college faculty and practicing teachers result in positive change in the classroom. St. Catherine's has designed this program to promote a quality graduate education experience in the convenience of home or school. Every aspect of this program was created with the working professional in mind.
The College of St. Catherine's MAED - Curriculum and Instruction program prepares teachers in assisting children with diverse backgrounds and abilities so they can learn and thrive in today's complex society. Teachers and students must become reflective, literate citizens able to work easily within multiple communities.
Accreditation
The College of St. Catherine is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Cental Association of Colleges and Schools.
