Certificates for Licensed Teachers

Teachers with valid Minnesota teaching licenses who want to add a new area(s) to their current license can do so through one of the Graduate Education certificates. Certificates for new areas of licensure are offered at the Elementary, Middle School, K-12 and 5-12 levels:

• Certificate: Elementary – Pre-primary specialty
  Elementary – Middle School specialty
  (available only to teachers holding valid Minnesota secondary 7-12 or K-12 licenses)
• Certificate: Middle Level specialty
  (available only to teachers holding valid Minnesota elementary K-6 or 1-6 or secondary 7-12 licenses)
• Certificate: Secondary Education 5-12 license
  Secondary Education K-12 license
  (available to teachers holding valid Minnesota teaching licenses)
