Montessori Teacher Education
Montessori education is based on a holistic philosophy with applications relating to children, communities, families, curriculum, learning materials and environments. The Montessori graduate education program offers curricular options in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.
Individuals with a baccalaureate degree may apply to one of the Montessori Teacher Education programs offered by the College of St. Catherine. The following Montessori options are available:
Early Childhood (ages 2 1/2 - 6)
- Montessori Early Childhood Credential (offered at associate and graduate levels)
- Master of Arts in Education with a Montessori Early Childhood Credential
- Master of Arts in Education with Montessori Early Childhood Credential and Elementary Initial Licensure with Early Childhood specialization (pending approval by the Minnesota State Board of Teaching)
Elementary (ages 6-12)
- Montessori Elementary Credential (graduate level only)
- Master of Arts in Education with Montessori Elementary Credential
- Master of Arts in Education with Montessori Elementary Credential and Elementary Initial Licensure with Early Childhood specialization
- Master of Arts in Education with Montessori Elementary Credential and Elementary Initial Licensure with Middle School specialization
AM2: Online Master's for Montessori Teachers
- AM2 is a one-year, online option for Montessori teachers seeking to complete master’s degrees.
