Malwarebytes is currently the best anti-malware application to use. Install and update/scan weekly with the free version of this software, or pay $30 for the full version which will automatically update and scan for you.

Spyware is not the same as a virus, and you need to have both anti-virus and anti-spyware installed. This is the one anti-spyware we recommend using. This guide will help you understand what this application is as you go through the process of installing.

McAfee Anti-Virus is just one piece of an entire Anti-Malware line of defense. You should also install Malwarebytes, Spybot, McAfee SiteAdvisor and Tangent Spam Filter.

This updates our McAfee anti-virus software. Updates are important as new viruses and other malicious things are constantly being created. All anti-virus and anti-spyware applications need to be updated once a week. In addition, scans to check for malicious software and viruses should be run once a week!

You can only have one anti-virus software on your computer. Multiple anti-virus applications will argue with each other, and then neither one will work correctly.
You can (and should) have multiple anti-malware software. We recommend Malwarebytes and Spybot.

New Residence Hall Students should update computers before bringing them to the University.
