How long will it take for IRB review?
The IRB will make every effort to review your application in a timely manner. It usually takes two weeks to review and respond to an exempt proposal and three weeks for an expedited proposal, unless the reviewer has additional questions for the investigator. Please also note that reviews are typically scheduled in accordance with the academic year calendar, and may be delayed due to holidays and breaks.
Applications requiring full review must be submitted (with all necessary components) by the required deadline in order to be reviewed at the next scheduled IRB meeting. The IRB will respond to the investigator regarding the status of the application within approximately one week of the full review.
Until you have received written notice that your research has been approved, you should not begin to collect data or interact with human subjects.
