Student Complaint Process for Academic Evaluation A student who feels an academic evaluation was inappropriate should discuss the evaluation with the faculty member. Most concerns are resolved this way. However, if it is not possible for the student to discuss the evaluation with the faculty member, or if that discussion does not resolve the concern, the student may discuss the evaluation with the department chair. If the concern is not resolved by discussion with the department chair, or if the department chair is the object of the concern, then the student may discuss the evaluation with the appropriate academic dean (Baccalaureate or Graduate program) or the associate academic dean (Associate program) As dictated by the individual case, the dean or associate dean may meet jointly with the student and faculty member to resolve the complaint, or may involve others in resolving the matter, including asking a panel to hear the concern.
