The College of St. Catherine Myser Initiative on Catholic Identity welcomes Fordham University theologian and author Elizabeth Johnson, CSJ, tonight at 7 p.m. A few free tickets still remain, call 651-690-6700.

Our speaker will draw from her new book, Quest for the Living God: Mapping Frontiers in the Theology of God, to discuss how contemporary theology is uncovering hidden power and inspiration in an ancient formula. Her lecture is titled "Seeking the Living God: Nourishing Faith with the Living Tradition."

Johnson's other books include Consider Jesus: Waves of Renewal in Christology; She Who Is: The Mystery of God in Feminist Theological Discourse; Women, Earth, and Creator Spirit; Truly Our Sister: A Theology of Mary in the Communion of Saints; and Dangerous Memories: A Mosaic of Mary in Scripture.

The former president of the Catholic Theological Society of America, she has lectured throughout the United States and internationally.

The College of St. Catherine's Myser Initative has been made possible through the generous gift of Patricia O'Connor Myser '56 and her husband, John (Buzz) Myser.

St. Kate's established the Initiative to deepen the institution’s Catholic heritage and to infuse Catholic approaches to moral and communal challenges across the curriculum. The goal of the Myser gift, Pat Myser has explained, was to reinforce the College's trifold mission: Catholic, women, liberal arts.

Sister Amata Miller, IHM, a professor in economics, was selected to direct this project because of her history as a leader in bringing Catholic Social Teaching into the study and application of economics.

She has also served as the education coordinator and economic analyst for NETWORK: A National Catholic Social Justice Lobby in Washington, D. C.

The lecture is free, but tickets are required. The event will be in The O’Shaughnessy on the College of St. Catherine’s St. Paul campus, 2004 Randolph Ave. Reserve tickets by calling 651-690-6700, or visit the College's Centers of Excellence office, second floor, Coeur de Catherine, or Wisdom Ways, 1890 Randolph Ave. in St. Paul.
