Academic programs

St. Kate's offers two baccalaureate sales degrees with concentrations in Business-to-Business Sales and Healthcare Sales. We also offer certificate programs in these two areas. Students interested in Financial Services Sales can complete a Business-to-Business Sales Major with a Finance Minor.

In addition to sales courses, students receive a broad business background in accounting, finance, marketing, and business ethics. Through the college's strong liberal arts requirements, students develop the ability to think critically and communicate effectively. Ethics and integrity in sales are woven throughout the curriculum, as are skills in oral and written communication, leadership, strategy and technology. The curriculum, combined with internships, mentoring and shadowing experiences, give students real-world exposure, plus a strong conceptual framework for successful practices sales.

Internships


Practical experience gained through internships increases the value St. Kate's students bring to organizations after graduation. All students enrolled in a sales majors participate in internships. Internships are well-structured and monitored to ensure that both the participating companies and the students accomplish their objectives. Interns are available for part-time positions during the academic year and full-time positions during January as well as in the summer. more >>

Continuing education for sales professionals


Continuing education courses for women and men include:
  • Leadership for Women in Sales: a highly selective program designed to increase the representation of highly qualified women leaders in top management or executive leadership more >>
  • Sales Executive Forum: a forum for seasoned sales leaders to discuss issues they are facing and gain input from peers. more >>

3M Sales Resource Center


The 3M Sales Resource Center, made possible by a grant from 3M, is a state-of-the-art classroom where students can use video/data equipment, record and analyze presentations, use laptop computers and participate in an on-line environment. Corporate clients can use the extensive sales reference materials, including a CD-ROM and video library, housed in the resource center.

Research and Projects


We work together with corporate sales leaders to identify current issues and research topics of top concern in sales organizations. Current research includes projects on:
  • recruiting and retraining millennial generation employees
  • managing generation X
  • sales effectiveness issues for women
