Students gain a deeper understanding of chemistry by doing a research project with a faculty member. A research experience is a requirement of our American Chemical Society certified Chemistry majors.

Some of the work of students performing research in our department have testimonial sof their experiences found here:

Individual faculty research intererest can be found directly on the Faculty webpages.

For more information on research opportunities you can contact the specific faculty member who you wish to work for or you can contact the department chair:

Besides opportunities for chemistry research within our department, research opportunties for undergraduates (REU) programs are also avaliable at other institutions. These are competitive programs that are primarily designed for students to work during the summer between the junior and senior years. The deadlines for these programs begin in the late fall of the year previous to the summer research experience. To find a listing of REU programs and their requirements, due dates, and more details, go to the National Science Foundation website to search for REU programs nationawide.
