Course Description:
An introduction to the major myths of the gods and heroes of ancient Greece, along with their origins and interpretations. Because classical mythology played such an important role in the development of the Arts in Western civilization, this course has a strong visual component, and every lecture is accompanied by slides.

The textbook is Morford and Lenardon's Classical Mythology, and the instructor reads aloud from at least one ancient text during every class meeting. Evaluation is done on the basis of daily quizzes, along with a midterm and a final exam. All students are also required to take a map test and a slide based exam identifying all the major shapes of Greek vase treated in the class.

Same as INDI 245 and LATN 245. Fulfills the fine arts requirement.
