Latin Courses

Beginning Latin is offered every fall semester, and continues in a two-year sequence. Students with advanced knowledge of Latin should consult with the instructor regarding independent study options.





LATN111- ELEMENTARY LATIN I
Professor: West
Credits: 4 credits

Course Description: This course is a gentle introduction to the study of the Latin language. Using the Ecce Romani textbook series, students learn grammar and vocabulary through a set of graded readings that follows the adventures of a Roman family.

Prerequisites: none



LATN112 - ELEMENTARY LATIN II
Professor: West
Credits: 4 credits

Course Description: Continuation of LATN 111.

Prerequisites: LATN 111 or equivalent.



LATN211- INTERMEDIATE LATIN I
Professor: West
Credits: 4 credits

Course Description: Continuation of LATN 112. Review and further study of grammar, continued reading of narrative prose.

Prerequisites: LATN 112 or equivalent.



LATN212 - INTERMEDIATE LATIN II
Professor: West
Credits: 4 credits

Course Description: Continuation of LATN 211.

Prerequisites: LATN 211 or equivalent.
