Dr. Deep Shikha
| Deep Shikha
Deep Shikha, Ph.D. is Professor of Economics at the College of St. Catherine. She chairs the Economics Department, in addition to her responsibilities as co-coordinator for the “Center for Women, Economic Justice, and Public Policy.” Her major fields of expertise are in financial economics, resource economics, gender economics, and quantitative business analysis. She has several workshop/presentations to her credit, and has authored several articles including “Structures of Social Change” “Women and Work” “Internationalizing Economics Curriculum”, and “The internet in Economics Classroom.” Her research interests include micro-economic development and women empowerment, global economic issues and women’s issues in developing and developed economies.
Dr. Shikha has almost 28 years experience, primarily in the area of education. Her professional experience includes: Senior Marketing Analyst, Fingerhut Inc.; Instructor, Department of Quantitative Business Analysis, Louisiana State University; Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant at the Department of Economics, Louisiana State University; and Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Delhi, India. Dr. Shikha earned a BA, MA, and M.Phil. in Economics at the Delhi School of Economics. She earned a Ph. D. in Economics/Quantitative Methods at Louisiana State University. Deep has been involved in grant work to include: research on the role of women in the economic development of India, Denny Grant, Instrumentation and Laboratory improvement (NSF-ILI) and many others. |
