Previous Experience:
Tony Murphy has over twenty years of experience in the science and environmental education field--teaching in residential centers and schools in Ireland and the US; developing science and environmental curriculum for teachers and students in Ohio, Minnesota and nationwide; organizing, coordinating and teaching in various professional development educator workshops based on climate change and environmental monitoring themes. He has worked on an international environmental education and science initiative called the GLOBE Program (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment). He is also a lead author of the third environmental report card for Minnesota adults.
Experience Abroad:
In January 2003 and 2004, Tony co-taught, with Barbara Thompson, a comparative education course in Ireland. The course dealt with emerging social issues as Ireland is absorbed more and more into the globalized economy.
In November 1998, Tony traveled to China as a consultant to a UNESCO project. He worked with teachers showing them various methods used in environmental education and how to develop interactive activities.

Fun Facts:
Tony and his partner, Kate, had two wedding ceremonies. The first was
"Minnesota style" performed in the Northwoods of Minnesota where they were both paddled to shore in canoes to begin the ceremony. The second was
"Irish style", a much more traditional ceremony in Killarney, Ireland (Tony's hometown).
